The M.S. in Mechanical Engineering program is a 30-credit-hour degree program.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers two graduate programs leading to the degrees of Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (M.S.M.E.):

  1. Professional Master's Program - for recent graduates and practicing engineers interested in specialized areas to enhance their careers. The program emphasizes advances in existing and emerging technologies. A master's thesis is optional.
  2. Master's Program (pre-doctoral): This program is for students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. A master's thesis is required.

Students are required to enroll in 500-level or above ME courses and two of the following three courses: ENGR 516, ENGR 518, and ENGR 520. Other ENGR or graduate-level courses may be approved in consultation with the student's academic advisor. One Engineering Management course may be acceptable if approved by the Department Chair.
