As Catholic University embraces its new R1 research status, capacity for innovation and new discoveries is expanding. To support this expansion and maximize impact, the University has established the Innovation Fund, a $5 million initiative to support research and new business development. University Trustee Tim Connors  has made the first $1 million investment to bring the fund to life and encourages other philanthropists to join him. Seed grants provided through the Innovation Fund will assist with prototype development and proof-of-principle data acquisition, positioning faculty and teams to apply for larger-scale extramural funding. The Fund will serve as a sort of test sandbox, before going to market or applying for extramural grants.

Additionally, the University has created the IgniteHub portal to help facilitate the process of connecting faculty with funding. IgniteHub is a centralized research management tool that facilitates faculty networking and collaborations, identifies new extramural funding opportunities, serves as a platform for both intramural and extramural grant competitions, and helps manage grants.

Want to support our faculty and students in this exciting potential for growth? Contact Dr. Joseph Yost, senior vice provost for research, for more details: [email protected].
