The Athletics Department at The Catholic University of America has announced the addition of an Athletic Pep Band and will immediately begin the search process for a director.

“This group will create the soundtrack for Catholic University Athletics moving forward," said Catholic University Director of Athletics Kevin Robinson. "As we look to create greater energy and enthusiasm, an athletic pep band will help us generate that positive gameday energy. I couldn’t be more excited for the addition of the Catholic University Athletics Pep Band.”

The band will seek to create an enhanced game day experience at football and basketball games, among other events.

The director will ultimately chart the course for the band, which will initially consist of woodwind and brass instruments with a drum section.

This new addition to Catholic University Athletics provides a unique opportunity for the University’s athletics and admissions departments to partner on a crucial growth opportunity. The Director will recruit new students to the band each school year.

“I am excited about the spirit that the pep band will provide for not only athletic events but also university-sponsored events,” said Vice President for Student Affairs Judi Biggs Garbuio. “This is also an incredible experience for students to continue and grow as musicians in college.”

Catholic University Athletics is committed to the development and growth of this addition, with a vision of growing from an Athletic Pep Band into a Marching Band in four to six years.
