On May 13, 2026, the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, the faculty and staff of the Tim and Steph Busch School of Business gathered for their end-of-semester meeting. After a standing-room-only Mass in St. Michael the Archangel Chapel, Father Aquinas Guilbeau, O.P., university vice president of ministry and mission, led the congregation in personal prayers of consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Dean Andrew Abela then stood and recited a prayer consecrating the entire Busch School to the Sacred Heart
as well, promising to lead "this community following your example of generosity, justice, mercy, and self-sacrificial love."
The texts for the consecration were provided by His Way at Work, a Catholic organization that "transforms workplaces by inspiring business owners to consecrate their companies ... placing God at the center."
"Business schools, and indeed most businesses, don't usually start big meetings like this," said Vice Dean Tony Cannizzaro. "But we hope more will. There is no better way to remind our students and ourselves that what we do here serves a higher purpose."
In a petition expressing the distinctly Catholic and countercultural mission of the business school, Dean Abela prayed for the grace to be attentive to others' needs "so that I never turn success or money into idols that poison my heart."
The Busch School of Business was founded in 2013 with the goal of promoting business as a means to advance the common good. By rooting their efforts in prayer—especially in the busy week leading up to Commencement—the faculty and staff acknowledged their trust in God as the one who makes their work fruitful.
